ADDIS ABABA (ENA) August 28, 2007- The Addis Ababa City Administration Millennium Celebration Office has announced a list of artistes and bands that would take part on the millennium eve extravaganza. These include singers, music bands, choreographers, cinema and theatre experts and masters of ceremony.
The eve programs would take place at Addis Ababa Stadium and Jan-Meda on Puagmen 6,1999 E.C. (September 11,2007), arts and mass media committee of the office said.
This came here yesterday while the office held discussion with the artistes and representatives of bands on the program.
Besides bands of the city's theaters, women's, children's and physically disabled persons' bands, among others, would take part in the program.
The program would be broadcast live to both local and foreign viewers.
The artistes vowed to contribute their share to make the eve program colorful.
Some 15 artistes attended the discussion.
Similarly, in connection with the Ethiopian Millennium celebrations, a sports festival was held in Djibouti, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
In a statement it sent to ENA yesterday the ministry said Ethiopians, Djiboutian and Yemenis took part in the festival.
The festival, which was held from July 27 to August 10, 2007, saw matches in volleyball, table tennis, chase and billiards.
Ethiopian Ambassador to Djibouti, Shemsedin Ahmed awarded trophies and certificates to winners and best performers.
A briefing about the Ethiopian Millennium was given in the Amharic and French languages.
A large crowd composed of Ethiopians, Djiboutian and Yemenis watched the friendlies with fun and cheers and in a sense of get together and collaboration.
