Panel discusses FDRE Constitution

Addis Ababa -Mayor of the Addis Ababa City Caretaker Administration Berhane Deressa said the FDRE Constitution has opened new chapter for nations and nationalities of Ethiopia and made them full actors in the ongoing national development drive.

Opening a half-day panel discussion marking Nations and Nationalities Day at the Hall of the City Administration yesterday, Mayor Berhane said that the FDRE Constitution has basically changed the orientation of state and society for sustainable peace and development.

Conflict Management Resolution and Federalism Study Department Head with the Ministry of Federal Affairs Dr. Adissu Gebre-Egziabher in his part said that the FDRE Constitution acknowledges that nations and nationalities are the sovereign source of power.

Reviewing the constitutional history of Ethiopia, Dr. Adissu said that there was on single constitution that refers to nations and nationalities in the previous successive regimes.
